Simple description:
Avanafil is a highly selective oral Phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitor. Phase I, II, and III clinical trials show that compared with other Phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitors, Avanafil has the characteristics of rapid onset, short duration, less adverse reactions, and good clinical effect and safety in the treatment of Erectile dysfunction.

Avanafil is a Phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE5) inhibitor used for the treatment of Erectile dysfunction. Avanafil, a PDE5 inhibitor, was approved by FDA on April 27, 2012 to treat Erectile dysfunction. Avanafil works by inhibiting the specific Phosphodiesterase type 5 enzyme found in various body tissues. Chemicalbook is mainly in the Cavernous tissue. Other similar drugs are Sildenafil, Tadalafil and Vardenafil. The advantage of Avanafil is that it has a very fast onset of action compared to other PDE5 inhibitors. It is rapidly absorbed and reaches its maximum serum concentration within approximately thirty to forty-five minutes. Approximately two-thirds of participants are able to engage in sexual activity within fifteen minutes.

Mechanism of action:
Avanafil inhibits the Phosphodiesterase -5 inhibitor and prevents the degradation of cGMP. The increase of cGMP level leads to Vasodilation, which leads to the increase of penis blood flow. The mechanism of action of Avanafil occurs after the release of nitric oxide and is related to sexual stimulation.

PS: The advantage of Avanafil is take works quickest in all PDE5 inhibitors(15 minutes)
